Christy Wilhelmi

Christy wears a lot of gardening hats. She is an author, blogger, podcaster, and social media influencer. As a speaker, she gives virtual presentations; she’s a teacher and an expert on radio and television programs.

Her focus is organic edible gardening, homesteading, and pollinators. Although her content is skewed toward warm winter climates Christy feels the information is helpful for all gardeners.

Christy says her blog is the hub for all of her content: blog posts, recent YouTube videos and podcasts, and my gardening books. She has authored four books and is particularly proud of her debut novel, which came out in 2022, titled Garden Variety. The action is set in a community garden and weaves gardening lessons throughout the story. The description states: “Garden Variety is as much about growing food and flowers as it is about life’s growing pains, and how a community rallies and comes together to save their own."

Why does Christy "GardenComm"? To that, she answers, “The connections I've made through GardenComm are invaluable. I learn much from my colleagues in Power Circles, and even found a new publisher for my first gardening book through a contact at GardenComm.”

Christy uses the GardenComm Enterprise Zoom account discount and says she has gotten a lot out of the virtual conferences over the last few years.

A final tidbit about Christy: She is enamored with the Heirloom Collards Project. It’s a collaboration between several organizations, including Seed Savers Exchange and Southern Exposure Seed Exchange. The Project features over 60 varieties of heirloom collard greens, each with a story of its origin. She commented, “When people are dedicated to preserving diversity and the history that goes with it, I find that inspiring.”
