About GardenComm
The community where garden communicators grow together
Founded in 1948 as the Garden Writers Association of America, GardenComm: Garden Communicators International has grown into a trusted, international organization serving professionals in horticultural communication.
What began as a network of writers and authors has evolved into a vibrant community that includes speakers, photographers, educators, digital creators, and media professionals dedicated to sharing accurate, engaging, and inspiring content about plants and gardening. Since its founding in 1948, GardenComm has supported thousands of communicators across North America and beyond, strengthening public awareness of plants, sustainability, and garden education.
GardenComm is a nonprofit 501(c)(3) organization, granted tax-exempt status in October 2002 (EIN: 20-0001313). Our mission is to empower, connect, and advance garden communicators across all forms of media, supporting those who inform and influence public understanding of gardening, sustainability, and the natural world. Our goal is to provide garden communicators with opportunities for education, recognition, and career development while sharing trusted information and fostering an inclusive, collaborative community.
